The Wärmestube Season Begins on Tuesday 5 December

News

ESUMC and Fünfhaus prepare for the opening of the Wärmestube ministry.

On Tuesday 5 December, the Methodist congregations at Sechshauser Strasse will open our 11th season of the Wärmestube. Established in 2012, this outreach ministry offers warm meals, medical care, legal assistance, and spirited Christian hospitality to members of our community in need. Last year, about 100 persons visited the Wärmestube each week, and we expect to serve a similar number of persons again this winter.

As we shared with you earlier, over the summer we offered our prayerful thanks to Christa and Elisabeth, who faithfully led the Wärmestube ministry since its inception. We are happy to welcome our new leadership team, Beate (from ESUMC) and Jutta (from Fünfhaus). The team has already begun preparing for the upcoming winter season, and welcomes volunteers from the two congregations and wider community to serve with us.

This year, the Wärmestube ministry shall begin on Tuesday 5 December, and will serve the community every Tuesday through 19 March. The doors of the church shall be open for meals and fellowship from 11:00 to 14:30. Volunteers are needed starting at 10:00 (to prepare the meals for serving) until 15:00 (to assist with clean up). You are welcome to volunteer for some or all of this time, either every Tuesday or as able.

Starting now, we also invite you to bring to Sunday worship the following items: single-sized canned goods of ready-made meals (Reisfleisch, Chile Con Carne, etc.), personal care items (hair and body wash, toothpaste, etc.) in small sizes, and new and used clothing in good condition.

For more information about the Wärmestube, or to register to volunteer, please speak with either Beate or Jutta, or email to waermestube@emk.at.

We thank you for your support, and look forward to having you serve with us this winter at the Wärmestube.
